Ugly chemical nose—probably sulphur. Light cherry flavor on the tip of the tongue. Then, not much of anything else. Pretty much, a pedestrian wine. On the other hand, once you get past the nose, it really doesn’t suck.

Not a very good wine. Picked up a couple glasses at Busch Gardens in December 2013. Not much of an aroma, tart flavors with moderate tannins.

Started over three decades ago, Acacia is a winery that helped to establish the Carneros region as one of the very best in California for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Acacia produced one of the first Pinot Noirs from the legendary Winery Lake Vineyard and today sources a large portion of the grapes for this wine from Winery Lake. The other main source is their own Lone Tree Vineyard that surrounds the winery. (The "Lone Tree" is the acacia tree that gives the winery its name.) Grapes are hand sorted in bunches and then sorted again after de-stemming to insure that the only the best fruit is utilized. After a sort cold soak fermentation is started with all native yeast. Open top fermenters are used with gentle punch downs over an extended maceration. The wine is racked into primarily French oak barrels and aged for 7 months. No scores yet for this 2015 but he the 2013 was a 95 point Platinum Award winner. This wine shows gorgeous layers of dark and red-fruit expression, fine tannins and impeccable balance. As this wine evolves in the glass, it reveals harmonious notes of Bing cherry, sun-ripened wild berries and juicy plum with nuances of black tea, rose petal, cinnamon and vanilla.

They said "Acacia is one of the wineries that helped write the book on Pinot Noir in California, planting vines in the Carneros district at the southern tip of the Napa Valley more than three decades ago. This historic property hasn't lost its touch and the 2013 is all the evidence anyone might need. This is an intense, rich, juicy mouthful of Pinot that would be competitive with other California Pinots at twice the price." On Sale!

Beautifully perfumed with bing cherry, strawberry and vanilla, the wine shows a supple but well-composed texture with flavors of black plum, black tea, cherry, raspberry, cherry and toast. A fine display, not only of Carneros character but of the quality and breeding this winery continues to produce. On Sale!

A lovely ruby red in color, the Acacia Carneros Pinot Noir offers deep, fragrant aromas of violets, black cherries, toasty oak and earth.

Dry, earthy, herbal and dried currant and berry flavors fail to stand up to the drier leathery flavors.

Acacia Carneros Pinot Noir exhibits seductive rose, teaberry and Satsuma plum aromas. Intriguingly layered red- and black-fruit flavors, complemented by delicate spice notes and buttressed by silky tannins, stay harmonious through the lingering finish.
