FINALLY! A domestic Pinot Noir that actually tastes like it's from Burgundy. Dry, Fruity (smoky cherry and black cherry) , fresh, medium body. Best served slightly chilled (around 60F). This is the kind of wine I can drink by itself or with some mild cheeses.
this 2007 is actually a bit disappointing compared to some earlier vintages. Bouquet and initial tasting is too chemical. The color is rich, finish is a good blend of moderate acidity and tannin. Although very reasonably priced, it pales when compared to other similarly priced pinots such as Benton Lane (okay, it's a bit more).
External Reviews for A To Z Pinot Noir
Clear and vibrant, this wine has a beautiful dark color and aromas of mixed berries, earth, smoke, violets, Asian spices and minerals. In the mouth, the wine mirrors the aromatics with a succulent texture and good acidity. As the finish unfolds, the individual characteristics of the wine unify and augment one another. Beautifully balanced between richness and power, the wine possesses amazing depth and purity. Classically proportioned while being built with long term potential, the concentrated 2005 A to Z Pinot Noir will be perhaps the longest lived wine we have made.
A to Z Wineworks were founded in 2002, the company is Oregon's fastest growing winery. The business model is simple: to produce and market Oregon's best wine values by concentrating on our core competencies of acquisition, blending and marketing. Oregon’s wine industry has been built on small wineries producing wines of impeccable quality. The state ranks third in the U.S. in number of wineries, but only fourth in wine production. The A to Z Pinot Noir is true to variety and vintage with bold aromatics and a palate to please. The wine has moderately deep color and a tannin profile to match . The dark spices on the nose and palate complement the flavors you would expect from a good Oregon Pinot Noir : blackberry , raspberry , black cherry. The oak profile is restrainted and the natural acidity from the 2007 vintage gives the wine precision and tautness.
