A solid wine, slightly bigger than I typically expect from Oregon. Well integrated and drinkable.
I bought this because of the Oregon sell. I had no idea what was in it until I got to my Snooth to rate it. I guessed the Merlot and some Cabernet Sauvignon, and should have picke out the Syrah, but the rest no way. I've never had a pure Cab Franc, and funny I was just looking at one at the Brown Jug, but it was 37.99, from Helena Ca. I forget the winery but remember thinking instead of shelling out 37.99 to taste why not just next time in California seek out those who make Cab Franc and taste. I just don't have the Petit Verdot and California Nebbiolo senses developed yet. Overall I liked this wine, its bouquet was striking and its body full, and a tad on the sweet side. I guess my rating mostly due to that I'm not really picking out anything fabulous or really wow but it is very good mouthfeel and pleasant to drink. Paried it with a Chicken Risotto and zuchini surprise (layered dish of carmelized onions, zucchini, sliced tomatoe topped with fresh basil and paremesian - its all in how you cook this that makes it great.) Any way, good wine. After dinner glass picked up some hints of lavender of all things. And have to agree, with other reviewer, for an Oregon wine, full bodied. Oh, and a screw a cap, which is a plus in my notebook.
External Reviews for A To Z Night & Day Red
A hearty Oregon red that is 100% barrel-fermented for 18 months. This is an unusual blend of grape varieties from Bordeaux, Spain and the Rhône. Beautifully aromatic, with succulent flavors of plums, currants, boysenberries and cocoa. A powerful, fruit-forward wine, this is excellent when you're in the mood for something different.
