killer QPR. Complex nose and taste. Really good wine.
Barnyard nose/palate, slightly chocolatey, just so-so.
fruity. rich. grows more acidic and tannic.
Perhaps I am only accustomed to the California version of Zinfandel. Although, I do LOVE the Layer Cake Primitvo, an Italian offering. Nothing like this one. It was very sharp and antiseptic at first sniff from the glass. The initial taste was the same, and hot with alcohol. Either this was much too young, or something went wrong with the wine. It did improve with fat (a nice sharp cheese), so that tells me there was an abundance tannin, and got past the alcohol taste and detect some earthy fruit, but not much. Powerful, yet not extremely complex in flavors, not long on the finish. Could it improve with a couple of years in the cellar? I'm not certain with the lower alcohol content. This bottle just left more questions than satisfaction. I will not search for this wine.
Nice dark, brooding ruby red in the glass. Super nose, pulls you in with aromas of dark fruit, esp blackcurrent, raisins, the wine actually smells hot/alcoholic and on the palate that theme continues thru to the finish. Lovely mouth feel, good raisin notes but the hot vintage isn't the best example of A Mano, go '04 or '05. Drink it now. 88 Points
Screw cap surprised me since I bought several with corks. Drinks thinly, body similar to that of a richer Pinot noir, not the Zinfandel I expected. Locally, I can buy this for $7, so it's a great deal for the $ and will hopefuly age well.
this wine didn't invite me back for more. I found the smell of this wine unusual.
