8th Generation Syrah 2016

Member Review by zufrieden:

The 2016 Syrah from 8th Generation (a BC, Canada winery) is a light, somewhat off-the-variety flavoured wine in my opinion: the scent is heavily coloured by a vegetable component of grass and spinach... not much in the way of those luscious cherries one comes to expect. Entry is smooth, if tart and somewhat underdone. Finish is medium with a lot of that vegetative element already mentioned. A little underwhelming. 82

8th Generation is a family winery in Summerland BC producing a range of excellent whites and some reds, such as this Syrah, which elicits a few whiffs of coffee and strawberry on the nose, followed by a tart, food-friendly mouth feel and palate effect. Balance is sufficiently absent to say that a bit more work is needed. But great with Tourtiere. 83 points.
