83 Sigalas Santorini Asyrtiko Greece 2010
Asyrtiko is the main white grape of Santorini (one of the Greek Cyclades Islands in the South Aegean) and has a character similar to a light Sauvignon Blanc. Light yellow color with green highlights citrus flavors, and a lemon intensity, particular of the grape variety. Excellent structure, good acidity which brings out the flavors, pleasant on the finish.
Nose reminiscent of a pina colada and strong tropical fruit aroma. Very smooth mouth feel that builds in acidity and wonderfully dry. Keeps the tropical fruit profile until the acidity eventually overtakes it - lasting finish. Opens with time.
Fresh flavors. Has a nice edge of salinity which makes it inherently well suited for seafood. - WS Grand Tour 2011
