89 pts from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate! - The 2005 Broquel Malbec was aged for 15 months in new French and one year American oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of smoke, cedar, blueberry and black cherry. Medium-bodied, ripe, and sweet on the palate, it has good depth and excellent concentration. It will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2015. Broquel is the winerys mid-range series. Each of them is an excellent value. Trapiche is best known for its value-priced wines, a number of which are listed at the end of this report in the Best Buy charts. 89 pts from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate! - Review by Jay Miller The red wines begin with the 2006 Broquel Malbec which spent 15 months in new French and American oak. Purple-colored, the nose offers up pain grille, mineral, spice box, blueberry, and black cherry notes. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered, spicy wine with excellent grip and depth, several years of aging potential, and a long, pure finish. It is a fine example of over-delivering at a humble price. The Iscay cuvee is presumably the flagship wine of Trapiche. Two white wines were presented during my trip to Mendoza. The single vineyard Malbecs are the centerpiece of the Trapiche portfolio. The selections vary from vintage to vintage but in each case the grower is honored on the label. The 2005s are currently in the market while the 2006s have been bottled but not yet released. Farbe: Rubinrot Reintönige, sortentypische Aromen, von süsslicher Frucht und von verführerischen Gewürzen (Zimt, Vanille) strömen aus dem Glas. Der Sinneseindruck in der Nase ist vielschichtig und intensiv. Dieser Broquel der Qualitätsstufe Reserva ist von grosser Dichte und zeigt viele Dimensionen. Eine gradlinige, fruchtige Struktur und die kräftige, gehaltvolle Textur, die mit Stoff und Schmelz zu überzeugen weiss, entfalten sich im Gaumen.

Has intense, deep red-violet color, and ruby hues, showing the concentration of the grapes. The wine shows aromas of black fruit jam and liqueur, with notes of vanilla, chocolate and smoke. On the palate, it is ample and rich, with a long finish and soft tannins. Food pairings: Roasts, red meat, hard cheeses, grilled vegetables, grilled meats, fowl, beef, BBQ.

Great color, and I enjoyed the black cherry and plum flavors and spicy finish. This is easy drinking and at a good price point.
