Notes on the Terry Hoage "The Hedge" Syrah Paso Robles 2005 : WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 91 POINTS An impressive offering is the 2005 Syrah The Hedge. Its dense ruby/purple hue is accompanied by abundant quantities of cassis, blackberries, licorice, smoke, and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, deep, and pure with a voluptuous texture, velvety tannins, and low acidity, it should drink well over the next 5-6 years. WA # , #172 (Aug 2007) Drink 2007 - 2013 Robert ParkerNVWE NOTES: From its dark purple color, complex aromatics and deep mid-palate richness, through its polished and lingering read more...finish, this is an impressive and satisfying Syrah. On the nose, scents of black raspberry, dark cherry and black fig are counter-pointed by savory notes of black and white pepper, Oolong tea and crushed rose in a sweet-natured display, while black raspberry, brandied cherry, pepper and rose are the main ingredients that enliven its brightly youthful flavors. Airing brings further rewards, as tobacconist shop spice notes add depth, and the flavors grow ever more opulent, while retaining their appealing zest. Surprisingly soft in tannin for all its gutsy richness, it should be mature in just a few more years. 750 cases produced.TERRY HOAGE "THE HEDGE" SYRAH PASO ROBLES 2005

- This wine signals an auspicious debut for the Terry Hoage label at Vinfolio. Harvested in very small lots from their vineyard in Paso Robles, the wines display intensity and balance unusual for such a young producer. Shows a dark berry and cherry nose with hints of vanilla and mashed granite. The palate is deep and concentrated sun-warmed kirsch, blackberry, red and black plum with a solid acid backbone, finishing with beautiful black raspberry.
