What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Reviews

This is easily one of the best I've ever had. It was perfect, not too strong, delicate, just like a good merlot ought to be in my mind.

Even the regular non-reserve version was exquisite, well worth more than the ten dollars paid. This was a very good year for them.

Plump, ripe and seductive, carefully crafted to display its cherry, blueberry and sweet spice flavors on a supple frame, the flavors extending into a fine finish, echoing a cedary note. 1,500 cases made.

The fruit for our Reserve Merlot originates from both the Wahluke slope and Horse Heaven Hills. Fruit from each source is vinified separately, with only the top 10% making it into the final blend. Barrel-aged and racked frequently, this wine has an intensity that shines through. This classic Washington Merlot has a fruit-forward appeal and a lingering, velvety texture in the mouth. Aristocratic stuff, elegantly balanced to weave its currant, plum and mineral aromas and flavors with layers of roasted pepper notes and mocha character from oak, lingering beautifully on the fine-grained finish. read more...
