The 2007 Pillar Box Red, a blend of 65% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. Purple-colored, it exhibits an expressive nose of spice box, earth notes, blueberry, and black currant. Ripe, sweet, and layered, this nicely rendered red has exceptional balance and length for its humble price.

Deep-ruby color fills the glass, while red berries, brown sugar and hints of sage fill the air. This medium-bodied wine rolls over your tongue and as it does, the elements of tobacco and pepper lead into a fine spun chocolate-raspberry finish. Would match best with grilled steaks and roasted red peppers.

A perennial Best Buy in these pages, the 2008 Pillar Box Red does not disappoint. A blend of 66% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Merlot, it is purple-colored with an enticing nose of cherry blossom, cinnamon, blueberry, and licorice. Ripe and rich for its humble price, it has plenty of savory fruit, good balance, and a seamless, fruit-filled finish.

The 2006 Red is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. It boasts a dense ruby purple color as well as an uplifted, projected nose of sweet red and black fruits, earth, and spice box. Supple-texured with a voluptuous mouthfeel and unbelievable richness, this wine clearly over delivers. Enjoy for 2 - 3 years.Pillar Box red is an opaque red/black color with a scarlet rim. It displays aromas of sweet, ripe red berries underpinned cinnamon spice and dark chocolate. The palate is rich and fleshy with vibrant raspberry & blackcurrant fruit intertwined with a citrus like cedary oak complexity. The tannins are full yet soft and supple, combined with the gentle acidity to produce a lingering harmonious finish.

Open textured, this is a bit gritty with tannins, but it's generous with its meat and blackberry flavors, finishing on a savory note. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2011.
