This light, refreshing wine offers relief to the summer heat. It opens with abundant melon and pear flavors. Its finish is tangy with just the right touch of acidity, making it a perfect complement to seafood dishes.

The Lafage 2010 Candocirc;tandeacute; Est andmdash; comprising, as usual, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Chardonnay, and a bit of Marsanne andmdash; is delightfully scented with honeysuckle and iris, and its palate combination of juicy lime with the bite of cress, tangerine rind, and persistent inner-mouth florality put me in mind of some top-notch, lighter Gruner Veltliner. In fact, this harbors 13% alcohol yet finishes with a striking sense of levity, not to mention combining subtle but alluring textural enrichment via the lees with refreshing vivacity and intriguing, mouthwatering hints of iodine and salt. Look for it to prove phenomenally versatile over the next 12andndash;18 months. As explained in issue 183, this blend is assembled as juice (not as wine) following a 12andndash;15 day super-cold but gentle settling period for each variety and lot andmdash; just one of the many examples of wholly unorthodox Lafage methods resulting in something extraordinary, here above all in terms of uncanny balance as well as improbable price-quality rapport.

From the Catalan region bordering France and Spain, Lafageandrsquo;s Candocirc;tandeacute; Est is a soft, aromatic, people-pleasing white that drinks as well at the table as it does on the patio. A blend of Grenache, Chardonnay and Marsanne, perfumed with white flowers, pear and citrus notes. The mouthfeel is fresh and vibrant but not sharp, and the finish is crisp and clean.

A perennial winner, this aromatic white has a nose of fresh tangerines that hints at the small amount of Muscat in the blend. Grenache Blanc (61%) and Chardonnay (27%) make up the majority of the wine and create a full-flavored yet soft wine that would be wonderful with many types of lighter fish, turkey, or even a glazed ham.

Very intriguing flavors, and delicious sweet/tart taste going on. This is a great food wine, offering the acidity and structure from a blend of White Grenache and Chardonnay. Perfect for sipping on its own, or with a light lunch of lobster salad and crab cakes.

Hailing from Roussillon in France, this blend of the indigenous Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Macabeo is light, crisp, and racy. The orange citrus flavor and delightful floral aroma are happy reminders that warm summer evenings arenrsquo;t too far off.

An exceptional quality white wine produced in southern Francersquo;s Roussillon region, chosen and imported by Eric Solomon, an importer who chooses ldquo;top-notch winesrdquo; from small producers. This is a fresh white with an aromatic nose that hints at the small amount of the Muscat grape in the blend. Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay make up the majority and create a full-flavored yet soft wine that is a perfect summer accompaniment to fish or light pasta courses.

Winemaker's Notes:

Super crisp and tank-fermented, this racy white is bursting with citrus, white flowers and minerals. Juicy on the palate, dry but ripe with good apricot and yellow peach fruit character.
