14 Hands Vineyards Riesling 2014

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Pretty on the nose with light notes of iris, lime pith and some heather honey toes. Medium bodied and while this is lightly sweet its also light and elegant. I would like to see a little more acidity here, but this does have a nice texture as it is and delivers some gentle jasmine, apricot and crab apple flavors. The finish is nicely clean and fresh with a hint of balancing bitterness and surprising length. 86pts

Soft and gentle, showing pretty pear and lemon custard flavors in modest proportions. Finishes off-dry. Drink now.

In just a few years 14 Hands Riesling production has jumped from around 15,000 to more than 700,000 cases. Clearly the brand is doing something that consumers love. This is a fairly dry style, with forward, fruity flavors of ripe orange, apple and apricot. The length and concentration are spot on.

With a label of galloping Mustang horses, 14 Hands bottles are instantly recognizable. 14 Hands Winery is located in the eastern hills of Washington.
