14 Hands Pinot Grigio 2016

External Review by We Speak Wine:

TASTING NOTES: This crisp, refreshing Pinot Grigio offers aromas of fresh melon and green apple followed by flavors of pear and honeysuckle. Pair this wine with your favorite seafood dish. - Keith Kenison, Winemaker VINTAGE: • The 2016 vintage experienced the best of both worlds with a hot spring and early summer. A cooler than normal end of the ripening season allowed the wines to have ripeness, yet maintain freshness and elegance. • The early dry and warm spring, combined with cooler temperatures in August and September, slowed down ripening and resulted in the longest harvest on record in Washington State (August 15-November 15). • Overall, 2016 saw very favorable growing conditions, producing wines with nicely resolved tannins and maturity. WINEMAKING: • Grapes were picked at approximately 22 Brix to develop a bright, juicy wine. • The fruit was fed directly to press. After two days of cold settling, the clean juice was racked off solids. • Cool 14-20 day fermentation in stainless steel tanks enhanced this variety’s lively aromatics. Blend: 95.5% Pinot Grigio 4% Chardonnay 0.5% Pinot Blanc Alcohol: 12.5% Total Acidity: 0.58g/100ml pH: 3.37

Vintage: 2013 06/27/2015

FLAVOR PROFILE: The 2013 Pinot Grigio is a juicy, refreshing wine with flavors of stone fruit, melon and light notes of honeysuckle. Pair this wine with grilled fish or seafood pasta. - Keith Kenison, Winemaker THE VINTAGE: • Temperate weather patterns from winter through spring left most vineyards in good condition for the growing season. • The summer of 2013 was one of the warmest in the past decade with favorable temperature conditions extending into fall. • Accelerated ripening due to the warm season was slowed by cooler temperatures and light rain events mid-September. The timing and changes in temperatures aided in hang time development resulting in stellar fruit characters and flavors. WINEMAKING: • Grapes were picked at around 21 Brix to develop a bright, juicy wine. • After pressing the fruit quickly, the juice was cold settled for two days. • The clean juice was inoculated with M2 & ICV-D47 yeasts initiating cool 14-20 day fermentation in stainless steel tanks. • The wine was filtered just prior to bottling to ensure freshness. Alcohol: 13.0% Total Acidity: 0.56g/100ml pH: 3.23
