Denver Wine Bars

A Guide to the Top Wine Bars in Denver

Trios Enoteca - Northwest, Lodo
(303) 293-2887

1730 Wynkoop St
Denver, CO 80202

Specialty: With live jazz or blues music, couches, and a cozy atmosphere, how could you go wrong by coming to Trios Enoteca for the atmosphere? Live jazz music is played by local musicians every Tuesday through Saturday, and artwork from local artists hangs on the walls. If that isn’t enough to give it a hometown feel, there’s even a special where you can get discounts on certain drinks and pizza when the Rockies play a home game. Come to Trios for a relaxing night while being entertained.

Good: Relaxing and comforting atmosphere with live jazz music and local artwork displayed on the walls. Inexpensive tapas are available if you just want a bite.

Bad: If you aren’t in the mood for jazz or blues music, don’t go to Trios when musicians are playing. If you are, you will enjoy the experience.
Caveau Wine Bar - Uptown, Northwest
(303) 861-3747

450 E 17th Ave - Suite 110
Denver, CO 80203

Specialty: Where can you go to unwind after work without breaking the bank? Caveau is a great choice, with Happy Hour deals from 4-7pm cutting wines that cost under $12 to only $5, and all other wines are half price. Can’t get there in time? Try their late night Happy Hour from 10-11pm, when wine from their winery of the month is half off.

Good: Happy Hour makes drinking wine very affordable. Servers are knowledgeable and helpful. The fireplace, couches, and lounge chairs allow you to relax after a hard day at work, especially with the Happy Hour specials. Caveau also hosts free wine tastings every month.

Bad: Limited appetizer selection with very small servings. However, these appetizers are worth it, as they’ll give you cravings weeks after your encounter.

Lala’s Wine Bar & Pizzeria - Capitol Hill, Southwest
(303) 861-9463

410 E 7th Ave
Denver, CO 80203

Specialty: If you’re looking for a wine bar to spend the evening in, not just prepare for dinner somewhere else, Lala’s is your destination. The food is delicious and very inexpensive, especially when you take the large portion sizes into account. There are often discount deals, including “Sunday Supper,” where you can feed your whole family for only $10 per person. Brunch is served on weekends as well, so if you’re craving a mid-day pizza, you just have to head over to Lala’s.

Good: Delicious and inexpensive food. Many inexpensive drinks, and wines can be sampled by the half glass. Children are also welcome, as there are special deals specifically for children on Sundays.

Bad: Often very long wait times, so you should get a reservation beforehand.

Crú - Northwest, Lodo
(303) 893-9463

1442 Larimer St
Denver, CO 80202

Specialty: You know that you want a Zinfandel, but which should you get? How about trying a wine flight of just California Zins? Or maybe even “sexy reds?” If you want to try something new, go to Crú and get one of their many wine flights. Their ever changing list of wine flights allows you to come back again and again to try new wines every time.
Good: Flights change daily, so it’s a good place to sample many wines. Servers give excellent wine pairing recommendations. Cheese plates are rich and delicious.

Bad: Wines by the glass are often extremely expensive, but the flights make up for this.

(303) 477-1111

2239 & 2245 W 30th Ave
Denver, CO 80211

Specialty: There’s no denying it – Z Cuisine is one of the best restaurants in all of Denver. If you are in the area and can afford it, Z Cuisine is one place you have to go to. All of their food is extremely fresh and flavorful, but don’t let the food overshadow their wine selection. With a variety of French wines that pair perfectly with the entrées, along with delicious appetizers, Z Cuisine is a great place to just get a glass of wine as well.

Good: Exquisite food and fitting wine list. Servers are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Bad: The food takes a while to cook, so prepare to be there for many hours. They only accept reservations for parties of five or more, so if you get there late, expect to wait for upwards of an hour. Luckily, you can always sit at the bar and have a few drinks and light plates while waiting. The food is expensive, but definitely worth the price.
