#GoGoldenBordeaux Virtual Tasting

Watch the above videos, as wine educator and Master of Wine Mary Gorman McAdams walks us through the best ways to #GoGoldenBordeaux.

Sommeliers, wine educators, and wine writers agree: We must shatter our assumptions about Sweet Bordeaux wines.

The Golden wines of Bordeaux have a rich history, hailing from one of the world's most renowned regions. The region’s oceanic climate (alternating humidity and heat) is the only climate that allows for the development of Botrytis Cinerea, also known as noble rot.  This is what concentrates the grape’s aromas to produce the world’s most enchanting white wines in Bordeaux. Most are made with a combination of Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle grapes.

Last year's virtual tasting featured a selection of unique Golden Bordeaux wines from a variety of the region's key appellations. During this tasting, we witnessed a series of "Aha Moments": Tasters found that these golden wines can and should be enjoyed with a variety of savory dishes, especially those carried by salt and spice.

#GoGoldenBordeaux signifies the changing tide for these wines. The wines truly are golden in color, and this is a golden opportunity to experience the wines in a different light.
