Let's start this by saying OMG, this is a great wine. Once I smelled it I knew I would like it. Fills the nose with that deep berry aroma. Fairly volatile nose. Initial mouth sensation is sweet. Lot of blackberry fruit. Some raisin. The good news is that the "sweet" sensation seems to be coming from fruit and not alcohol--it doesn't seem to be a particularly "hot" wine. Gotta try SPEEDY CREEK from Knights Valley, Sonoma. Small lot estate winery right across from Peter Michael and mighty delicious (without the $$$)! Mountain fruit, rich berry taste and the perfect amount of spice. Great with food/bbq and equally good on it's own. A great social wine.

Rombauer Vineyards (Napa Valley, CA)....hands down the best and most flavorful Red Zinfandel you will ever try, I promise.
