Read moreUsually we like the Coppola Diamond Series wines. While not always great, they are usually high quality wines and a good effort for the varietal. So I was enthusiastic when I saw the Temperanillo (which we love generally speaking) on the shelf. What a disappointment. Aromas that were hard to pinpoint, but some described as feet and others as bad cheese. We let it breath a while and still no improvement. Granted, this could have been a bad bottle, but it didn't seem corked to us, just unpleasant.    (hide)

  From what I have tasted and read, the 2001 and 2004 Tempranillo Riojas are excellent vintages, and these wines in general are known for their ability to age very well. (I have some mid 90's bottles and am told they could last for a good number of years to come.)

  Big and strong, a bit of a bruiser. This is a smack you in the face, bold tempranillo. I like a bit more refinement and balance, but this shows what a Ribera Del Duero temp can be!

  Mas Que Vinos Ercavio Roble 2007

  Robert Parker gave this 91 pts. It's a deep, rich tempranillo that is a great bargain at under $15 a bottle. Thick, dense and opulent wine.

  Do you like the Rubens Tempranillo? I just enjoyed a bottle...very very dry, but enjoyable.
