Description: Silvaner produces mostly dry wines with pronounced earthiness, minerality and subtle smoke aromas.   

Characteristics: Body: (Light-Med-Full);  Flavors & Smells Of: (Citrus, melon, peach, earth, smoke).

Wine Styles: Dry, Sweet.

Origin: Indigenous to Austria. Natural cross of Ostterreichisch and Traminer.

Notes:

Silvaner from Franken, Germany, is bottled in the traditional flask-shaped Bocksbeutel.
 

As of 2006, Silvaner is permitted from the Grand Cru vineyard of Zotzenberg in Alsace, France.
