Increasingly popular in the Central Coast of California for blending purposes and as a varietal, Roussanne is a trendy, white Rhône grape. In France it is often blended with Marsanne, and is cultivated in Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon, as well as the Rhone. Now, it is only one of two vine varieties permitted in the white versions of the northern Rhône’s red wine appellations. In the southern Rhône, it is only one of four grape varieties permitted in white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Roussanne’s main asset is its distinctive aroma, along with an acidity which helps it to age better than its partner Marsanne. Roussanne tends to ripen late and can benefit from oak ageing.

It is very hard for me to find a white wine that I really enjoy. most are way over oaked or very acidic. Yet when I found this wine I felt like this wine was my long lost mate. The Cuvee Blanc is wonderfully balanced with just the right acid and fruit. Lemon and peaches make up the body. With refreshing minerals in the middle. Ending with apples... Read More

This wine has wonderful note of lemon and peach notes which give it great body. yet it also has nice mineral notes towards the middle of it. Then end with a ni... Read More

  • Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2006

What a great find! We found this for $19.99 downtown and purchased everything that was on the floor! This wine is just fantastic, floral and citrus fade into each other and the overwhelming mouthfeel and nose of butterscotch pudding is delicious! The only downside is some inconsistency from bottle to bottle, which may be due to the storage facil... Read More
