Hi Guys:In my ongoing saga of trying to learn how to cook, I'm planning on giving lobster thermidor a whirl soon. Pretty, almost golden color in the glass. Very big nose--the Viognier (30%) really pounds through--flowery, tropical fruity. On the palate, again the Viognier comes through--some melon hints, some spicy hints, some mineral hints. Very pleasing tartness brings lemony hints. I noticed a couple of Texas roussannes in the list and wanted to add that if anyone knows about Texas roussanne it is Benjamin Calais at Calais Winery in Dallas. His current bottling is the 2010 La Cuvee Principale, a 100% Texas-grown roussanne. It sells out fast but production is growing and should be more available in the future.
