“With so voluptuous a perfume, so sweet an edge, they make the blood run hot,” Joel Fleischman, wine columnist at Vanity Fair, once described of Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir grape is grown in tightly clustered dark purple, pine-cone shaped bunches, the resemblance from which it gets its name. Considered to produce the finest wines in the world, its fame as a Noble grape goes hand in hand Read more »

Pinot Noir on Snooth

  • J Vineyard & Winery Sparkling Brut Rose NV

    Snoothrank:

Pleasantly rustic, smoky strawberry and sour cherry aromas with a creamy vanilla note and light toast. The palate is full bodied, zesty and decadent with cherry, strawberry and ripe watermelon notes, a buoyant acidity and lively texture with a bit of grapefruit zest and vanilla frosting on the finish adding some depth. • August Kesseler Pinot Noir Pfalz 2014

    Snoothrank:

Ripe berry blend of blueberry and raspberry with a fresh cherry blossom note and a hint of spice. Clean, fresh and lively palate of licorice, ripe cherry and fresh strawberry with a lot of zesty character, fun spice and just enough tannin to add a bit of texture to the mid palate so the hint of earthiness on the finish is in perfect balance. • "with regard to Pinot Noir, I still prefer the ones from Oregon"You need to drink a lot more Burgundy, and of the others I mentioned, too.  ;-)   Oregon's getting there but still on the road, not yet fully arrived IMHO, even if I enjoy many of theirs. Was writing on these boards about Soter and Drouhin, for example, last decade. I certainly comm... Read More

  • DM - We are familiar with the Pinot Noir in Burgundy, as we visited that area on a Viking River Cruise down the Rhone River back in 2015.  My web page documents the exciting times we had.  We do get plenty of Pinot Noir from Sonoma and Napa, along with Alexander and Anderson Valleys.  Duckhorn, Medlock Ames, even Barnett make Pinot Noir.  I don'... • We're still drinking wine, but we've been busy, getting out to shows, ... ... the 2011 Medlock Ames Pinot Noir and the 2011 Delaplane Cellars Springlot red blend.  Neither wine really impressed me though, and I was drinking the Springlot with the nice ribeye steak you see below.  I think with regard to Pinot Noir, I still prefer the ones from... • If you want to try the best kept secret Pinots from the neighboring Santa Barbara area, then you have to get your hands on "Tantara"!! This is one of two top dogs in my book in that AVA including up five anywhere close to it. It's worth every penny, the winemakers, tatse, blend, and only put out the very best. This tiny winery puts out some seri...
