With many qualities lending themselves to this parallel, the best is likely that the Pinor Noir grape is difficult. Difficult to cultivate. Difficult to transform into wine. Difficult to pinpoint in taste.

The Pinot Noir grape is grown in tightly clustered dark purple, pine-cone shaped bunches, the resemblance from which it gets its name. Considered to produce the finest wines in the world, its fame as a Noble grape goes hand in hand Read more »

Pinot Noir on Snooth

  • Meinklang Prosa Frizzante Rose 2012

    Snoothrank:

Nose of strawberry, raspberry, and black cherry. Juicy and plush mouthfeel. A little sweet on the finish, but pleasantly so. Read More

  • Merry Edwards Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2009

    Snoothrank:

Brooding, earthy nose with a hint of phenols. Like so many California PNs, the first taste is cherry, but, then, a good thingas the wine moves over the palate, I get more of a blackberry flavor and acid and tannin structure add significant complexity. Acid/tannin suggests to me that there is some significant aging potential, here. Read More

  • Roederer Estate Brut NV

    Snoothrank:

Really nice Anderson Valley bubbly. Tight and abundant bubbles, a nice yeasty nose. Dry and citrusy with a bit of bread dough and creamy lemon on the palate. The finish is medium long with a kick of lemon drop on the end. This has excellent QPR. Read More

  • Joseph Drouhin Bourgogne Pinot Noir Laforet 2011

    Snoothrank:

First France Pinot Noir. Not bad at all. Very Pale and translucent slightly brown Ruby Color. Very dry with more of a spice, mineral, musty, and earth nose and taste than fruit. Fruit when it came is more of a sour plum/cherry. Compared this to a bit of the Sierra del Mar California Pinot. the Reverse Wine Snob has a review of this @ http://ww... Read More
