  • Can't help find those wines from the past as I didn't drink them, but ... for example, makes orange Muscat. Kiona in Washington makes sweet wine. BV makes a sweet dessert wine. If you're near a trader Joe's, you might try IPSUS Pantelleria Passito. It's not made like Sauternes, but it's sweet and not too bad - tastes a little like sweet peache... Read More

  • Now that the name Sauterne, is reserved for those wines from that region, how do I find the type of wine produced in the 1960's, that used to be labeled " Sauterne".This wine was from California and was an excellent compliment to poultry. I have no idea what wines to try. Thanks Read More

  • Been on a bit of a syrah kick recently myself but tonight we had our weekly ... ... Sauv Blanc and Orange Muscat. On the nose there's some orange and a hint of honeysuckle. The flavor profile has ripe lime, peach pit and honeycomb that slides down the throat with a waxy, viscous texture. This is not an overly complex white but definitely a bi... Read More

  • Rachis By Randy Hester Texas Muscat 2015

    Snoothrank:

A recent Naked Wines selection. Floats a pale, pale silver in the Glass. Opens with almost an off-dry Reisling - baking yeast and spice with hints of Peach and Pear; moves on to Herbs, Earth, and Cumin?; the wet Evergreen, Moss, and Kiwi. Off-dry, light, but rounded mouthful, with a nice little kick of Acidity. Smooth long finish of polished r... Read More

  • August is here -- along with warm, steamy weather for most of the country. For ... French Colombard (9%), and Muscat (4%) were included in the blend. All of the fruit is from Clarksburg, California. White peach aromas light up the nose. The palate is stuffed with a bevy of fresh and dried apricot flavors as well as hints of crème fraiche. Mesq... Snoothrank:

OK so this is from Nova Scotia - a very marginal wine region... however, the area around Wolfville is producing electric ( read: nervy, acidic but still slightly off-dry, slightly sparkling wine of the rose variety) wine. The wine is strangely balanced: the acidity of the slightly underdone grapes plus some residual sugar works to perfection. A... Read More

    Snoothrank:

Effervescent mouthfeel is extremely fruity with notes of peach and apricot, honey and oranges. In the mouth this is delicate and honeyed with lots of ripe red apples, pear and floral notes of orange blossom and a slight touch of tart lemon on the finish. Read More

  • Among the sparklers, Jacquesson's GVS beat out the Schramsberg BdN, though ... though ... the Constantia muscat beat out both the Donnhoff Eiswein, and the Banyuls (yeah, not white) on the other, reds night. Not always easy to get ahold of the Constantia so jumped at the chance.  Even WS is getting on their bandwagon lately (though several of... Read More

  • Martin & Weyrich Moscato Allegro 2006: A sweet sparkling wine with delicious undertones of apricot and honey. I loved the way the tantalising bubbles played on my tastebuds. Can be enjoyed by itself or with a fruit tart or even a creamy risotto, enjoy!
