Merlot on Snooth

  • Poggio Bonelli Tramonto d'Oca 2010

    Snoothrank:

Intoxicating fresh earth and savory herb aromas hide sun drenched black currant and black cherry fruit. Creamy dark chocolate and dark black cherry flavors on the palate with gripping tannins and a full rich palate of oak spice, vanilla bean and savory olive Notes. The tannins continue through to the spiced herbal finish where they continue to g... Read More

  • Sazyk Dere Merlot Marochnoye 2015

    Snoothrank:

"" /Marochnoye/ means "vintage wine", it also has shaped bottle, fancy label and the word "premium" in description... but all that is very misleading because it's not. well, the wine is not too bad - it has taste and some tannin at the end but I believe customers will expect something more than that... • Rockr - There are a lot of those sugar shack wineries in Ohio, Indiana, ... ... ... Ohio does in fact grow Merlot, Cab, and many other French varieties. There's a fairly large AVA which is roughly at 41-42 degrees N latitude. If you figure Willamette Valley is around 45 and Napa is around 39-40, it's a place that's likely to have sufficient s... • Osoyoos Larose le Grand Vin 2009

    Snoothrank:

The Osoyoos Larose just keeps improving, and the 2009 edition is as good as any of the predecessors with a cedar bark - sweet cherry nose with a hint of black earth and pencil lead. Unbelievable mouth-filling flavours of cherry, cake spice and bramble berries with a hint of vanilla on the finish. As a Bordeaux should be, but often isn't. Sup... Read More

  • I too am very frustrated. I got into reds about 15-20 years ago, and skipped ... that we used to drink only merlot and pinot. Now we drink almost exclusively cabs and malbecs. I'm pretty sure, thinking back now, they were merlot...&nbs Read More

  • Burnier Merlot 2011

    Snoothrank:

Gorgeous golden-red color, dense caramelized cherry nose with notes of vanilla. The body i would describe as... cold bar of dark chocolate flowing in oak barrel! taste starts soft and becomes cheerful at the end leaving long peppy dark fruit on your tongue. It's hard to find Russian premium wine above 20$ in regular supermarket and this one was ... Read More

Then I started experimenting with different wines. Finally found a Merlo with a smoothness I enjoyed. But, with a price of $12. When we went to Trader Joes and they suggested we try Chas. ...
