Merlot on Snooth

  • Charles Smith Wines The Velvet Devil Merlot Washington State 2014

    Snoothrank:

Sweet fruit and floral aromas of cherry and red currant on the nose with a hint of cherry pie filling. Dry and earthy on the palate with sticky resinous backbone and an earthy dark chocolate filling in the core with restrained fruit notes and rough tannins. Read More

  • Chateau Carignan Prima 2014

    Snoothrank:

We do not get Chateau Carignan up this way often, but we should: the 100% Merlot Prima has Fronsac-like subdued rusticity with a deep, fresh cherry bouquet and male-merlot depth, power and finish on the palate. Judicious use of oak adds spice and age-worthiness. Slightly bitter on the back-end, but this comes with youth. 89. Read More

  • Franzia Chilable Red 5000 NV

    Snoothrank:

I'm no wine snob, I drink Franzia Cabernet Sauvignon regularly, and I like the Merlot as well. I don't like this. AT ALL. Sorry but I just found it nasty, nasty, nasty. I choked down two glasses and put the rest of the huge box directly in the garbage can. I tried it slightly chilled, maybe if it was really cold it might be less objectionable, b... Read More
