  • Greg got kidnapped!  :)That looks like the kind of night that happens very ... ... had a couple of BC cab/merlot blends before dinner, so Chester had a look in my fridge for an appropriate dinner companion.  My only other Italian options were several Amarone and Brunello's, which need to be opened sooner.  The Barbera was a beauty.  Right out ... • The opportunity to invest in wine before it enters the bottle is a special one, ... ... is why earlier ripening Merlot fared slightly less well. For this reason, many Right Bank producers incorporated a higher than typical percentage of Cabernet Franc. Additionally, the late-ripening Petit Verdot performed very well, proving that maturity real... Read More

  • Remhoogte Red Blend Simonsberg-Stellenbosch Estate Wine 2007

    Snoothrank:

Colour 4/5Nose 5/5Palate 4/5Aftertaste 5/5I was pleasantly surprised to find that the palate still had quite a bit of tannins, indicating that it could age further, but I fear it won't remain well balanced for more than another year. A solid, almost chewy wine with almost every varietal's characteristics still evident. I'm honestly impressed. Read More
