Merlot on Snooth

  • I second rckr's comments.Merlot has been traditionally described as being "softer" than Cabernet Sauvignon.  Generalizations, however, are reliably unreliable.  For example, my experience with any red wine from Napa's Spring Mountain District is that they are all very tannic.  A blind tasting of a Merlot from Spring Mountain next to a Cabernet S... • Generally speaking merlot is a fruitier grape and provides that in blends, cabby is used for strength - structure - ie. tannins.  That isn't to say that heavily extracted merlot can't be tannic, because it can.  A lot depends on when it's picked, how it's processed and delivered.Don't confuse a larger tannin profile with lack of fruit though - t... Nicely balanced on the palate with fruit, acidity and tannin each playing their part, earthy chocolate and toast notes set against cranberry and strawberry flavors, fine acidity and a finish of cut flowers and ce... • Murrieta's Well the Spur Red Blend Livermore Valley 2015

    Snoothrank:

Floral aromas of fresh licorice, black cherry and blackberry, a touch of green pepper and spice adding some complexity and a creamy vanilla note. This is lively and fun on the palate with juicy and jammy black cherry and purple fruit, fun cinnamon, vanilla bean and black pepper spice, gentle tannins and good acidity throughout. Read More
