for this grape?

Melody is a recent hybrid grape developed by the Geneva Research Station in New York State, used to produce light bodied white wines. Melody has yet to take any significant acreage away from the Cayuga in New York, but its cold hardiness and pleasant fruit and floral character have made it successful in the American Mid-West. Melody is a cross of Seyval Blanc with GW5 (Pinot Blanc x Ontario).

You poor ole Ma, Pinot Blanc, always seemed to play second fiddle to Miss Chardonnay. So it shouldn't come as a shock that even in New York you're overshadowed by Miss Cayuga. No matter, you're much too delicate and pretty for the competitive 'Empire State'. You seem more at home singing flowery tunes in the relaxed enviroment of the Mid-West. – Description from Appellation America (view original content)

  • Melody Wine 2009

    Snoothrank:

Who doesn't want to open a big bottle Melody on a humid summer day? Well, you can have the best of both worlds with this delicious White table wine.It is served chilled, so this can be your ice-bucket-on-the-beach wine all summer long. Everything we expect is there, but not in overwhelming quantities. One of those relatively light colored wines ... Read More

  • As someone who's still learning the ropes about the flavors and personalities of the different grapes, I thought that relating them to bands would be a helpful exercise. Anyone care to join? • I thought this was pretty interesting:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7400109.stmAt a basic level it makes sense, good music will make good wine taste better, but I'd never thought of it as this complex: "cabernet sauvignon was most affected by "powerful and heavy" music, and chardonnay by "zingy and refreshing" sounds."I know just the person...
