History of the grape: Macabeo is Spain’s most widely planted grape. From there, it has made its way to southern France’s Roussillon region, which is located just over the Pyrenees mountains. Though a text from 1854 suggests that it originated in the Middle East, its history is rather murky.

This wine was featured at a recent wine tasting that I presented, solely on wines of Rioja. It was recommended by a friend, as being the best white wine he has tried. I am not a big fan of white wines, but I have to agree that it is very good. Not a traditional rioja, it has great bouquet and a fresh citrus/zesty flavour, well worth trying. Read More

Let's be honest, I don't exactly know what I'm looking for in the sparkling world. I purchased this bottle because it made an appearance in a local wine shop newsletter. I enjoyed drinking it @ midnight on NYE, and at a price of less than $20, I'll probably use it to celebrate sometime in the future. Read More
