Herbemont on Snooth

September 2009

Shirazs for me anyway are always soo incredibly variable, and hit or miss. This one is good, well balanced, nice finish, but nothing special. Nice oakiness with the spine of a shiraz for drinking with meals.

Hunt Shiraz 2006

Starting at $15.12 Snoothrank: 3/5

This is a rustic wine. A throw back to the style of the early eighties in alifornia. Big nose, rich black/red color; rich mouth, full tannins, layers of fruit & oak. I marveled at how this made me remember those times and...

Pertaringa Wines Pertaringa Rifle & Hunt Cabernet NV

Starting at $25.77 Snoothrank: 4/5

yeah, this is right up my alley. thick as sludge, BOLD wine that somehow keeps a delicate touch, but barely. imagine a grizzly bear in a tuxedo. i actually laughed out loud when i tried this. very much like port but not in...

Hunt Cellars Zinfandel "Rocket Man" Rouge 2003

Starting at $62.50 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Ok, so this is a pruny wine some people are not big fan of,, but this is a special wine for me. It's an unique wine with big grapy, raisiny, dried fruits flavors mixed with 18% alcohol yet stays dry unlike port. If you...

Hunt Cellars Zinfandel "Rocket Man" Rouge 2003

Starting at $62.50 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Like its namesake, this wine can be hard to track down. But, I really like this red. It is full and juicy and a real treat. And, for under $20 a bottle, feels like a true bargain. Well worth the hunt.

Bogle Vineyards Phantom 2004

Starting at $19.95 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
February 2008

This is a great wine. First tasted at the vinyard - if in Northern Italy well worth the trip - about 40 minutes from Verona. Hunt around and you can buy for $60

Allegrini Amarone 2001

Starting at $52.00 Snoothrank: 4/5

Tight at first, after an hour it opened up. This is a very austere wine. Not a blockbuster, not over extracted and dense. It is lighter bodied, refrained, and elegant rather than explosive. Complex tastes of spice,...

Araujo Estate Syrah Eisele Vineyard 1995

Starting at $329.95 Snoothrank: 4.5/5
