Hárslevelü on Snooth

  • Limerick Lane arrived, today. Previously, I have had one Furmint, ever, ... ... and I've never had a Harslevelu.  So, I really could not say if this one definitively represents either the grapes.  I will say that this is a very good, easy-to-drink, refreshing wine.  Very light--both in body and in flavor.  Subtle fruit flavor of green apple wi... • Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Furmint/Harslevelu 2014

    Snoothrank:

Fairly pale yellow color. Fresh apple aroma. Quite light on initial taste. Light fruit hints of apple with a bit of lime. Excellent ouch of acid tartness prevents sweet fruitiness from dominating. I like this wine a lot. It is pleasant, easy to drink, and is not in-your-face with any characteristic. However, I do not have enough experienc... Read More

  • Fox, I would add in Harslevelu and Riesling to the Furmint and Chenin tasting. Supposedly, Harslevelu is a mix of Riesling and Chenin and from that bottle Greg brought, I'd say that's a pretty good description. Read More

  • Kiralyudvar Tokaji Furmint Sec 2013

    Snoothrank:

Very interesting Tokaji Furmint Sec. Normally these grapes are used to produce an awesome sweet dessert wine so when I saw this dry version I had to try it. On the nose is a nice blast of something floral, akin to honeysuckle. The palate is loaded with ripe pear, honey, mandarin orange and a touch of lemon pith. There is a bit of a mouthcoating ... • "what besides cabs and chards have you tried lately"Don't know ... Mourvedre, and then the odd Harslevelu and Trepat. What was unusual, at least for me since I didn't know much was grown in the US, was California Lagrein, Nebbiolo and Trousseau. I heartily applaud those efforts. The Lagrein in particular was really interesting. Darker and riche... Read More
