For me it goes cabernet sauvignon / cab-merlot, zinfandel, malbec, shiraz, and grenache, tempranillo, and sangiovese are all in the same ball park. I don't have much experience with the Italian wines so it looks like that...

Where's that editing function we need! Forgot to include syrah and grenache in the list of varietals from my market purchases. They'd likely go after chardonnay and before tempranillo.

Well you got me going, Greg, so I went back and looked at my wine purchases ... chardonnay, syrah, nebbiolo, grenache, riesling, sangiovese, tempranillo and 'others', roughly in that order. These were just my online...

Oxidising meaty edges vs nice intense sweet raspberry vs dry grip all lending good balance. Still young. €21 87+ For lots more Mas Blanc wines, go to http://www.winewriting.com/WineWriting%20subspages.htm#RWS

Or at least an opinionated one. But donccpa, don't put too much credence ... Mostly known for their grenache and maybe shiraz tho

Very good. Aromas of sweet berries, taste of blackberries, well-balanced. And a great label!

Interesting comments. I think people forget that Australia produced fortified wines for many years. Even more interesting is that they were using Touriga Nacional in 1979. From the guys I've spoken to, I got the...

November 2009

Yep. Depends on the stew. You can probably serve almost anything really, but if it's got prunes and apricots, that's different than mushrooms and onions. So in the first case you might go with garnacha or something...

Aroma: blueberry, black cherry, spice, pepper. Flavor: Blueberry, Spice, watermelon, pepper, raspberry, black pepper, fairly complex for price , medium body, slightly acidic, medium to light tannins, Might have some aging...

Castelmaure Corbieres Col des Vents 2007

Starting at $9.95 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Deep ruby color, nice tobacco nose, medium body, dry tannins. This is a nice wine to enjoy with cheese or other rich food (fettuccine Alfredo anyone?)

La Cova Dels Vins Montsant Barrica Ombra 2005

Check out Routas Infernet 2004, it's a Grenache/Syrah. It's affordable - a great daily.
