dmcker, I'll save the Sparkling Red for receipt of your recipe. As to garnacha or tempranillo pairing well with baby eel, it does! I had this often in the many tapas bars in Madrid and other parts of Spain. It also...

Some sort of boysenbery or blackberry finish.....aerate it very well... let sit for at least 20-30 minutes before drinking.. definately not my favorite table red.

Heartland Stickleback Red 2007

Starting at $8.45 Snoothrank: 2.5/5

Is this what Chateauneuf-du-Pape would taste like if it were grown in limestone? More mineral, bright red fruits, less power and dry as the desert. Maybe, maybe not but this one's a bargain.

Acustic Brao Montsant Acustic 2006

Starting at $44.69 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Nose immediately says Spanish Garnacha. Pepper, berry and full. Color is dark ruby, slightly turning brick red now. First taste is loaded with cherries, white pepper, and lemon acidity. Great food wine and value. Old...

Las Rocas Garnacha Spain 2006

Starting at $13.31 Snoothrank: 3/5
November 2009

This was a good drinking wine and good with food. It tasted great the second day too.

Garnacha de Fuego Old Vine 2007

Starting at $8.99 Snoothrank: 4/5

Everyday wine (literally); this is a solid crowd-pleaser that's an *amazing* value. We keep coming back to this one. (nb NYC residents: sold at Spirits of Carmine)

Dark red fruit with a bit of alcohol on the nose; briar and smoke over top of red fruit on the palate. More tannic than the '07- from less bottle time? Different but still good; same score. (tasted both '07 & '08 on same...

Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Borsao Red 2008

Starting at $6.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

Wild berry nose with notes of leather and red licorice, and blueberry/floral notes on the palate/finish. Easy drinking with moderate acidity and low tannins.

Check out Routas Infernet 2004, it's a Grenache/Syrah. It's affordable - a great daily.
