Parentage of the grape: unknown

History of the grape: Legend has it that it was brought over by the Romans in the first century BC to the town of Beaujeu, near Beaune, in the Burgundy region of France. • Georges Dubuf Régnié 2007

    Snoothrank:

'A light French red made from gamay grapes grown in southern Burgandy. Raspberry and plum scents lead through a light, succulent palate that finishes soft and refreshing. Served lightly chilled, it's great with cold cuts, pates and the like' (Ralph Kyte-Powell, Delicious, December 2008/January 2009). Read More
