Edna on Snooth

  • Oh what a bottomless pit of money and time this hobby can be! Sigh...all in the ... on the North slope of Mt. Edna. I guess you never know where you'll end up on the road to learning about wine.As for the Dolcetto - I'm out, for now. Too bad because I had been doing the simple pizza tonight, and I have committed to my Dolcetto pairing - I figur... Read More

  • Thought this was an interesting mailer I'd share with you all. Already forwarded the e-mail to Fox as he is one of the few champions of Dolcetto that I know. This would also fit in well with the "weekday wines" thread. Fox and I agreeing it's a good week day pasta night wine, or even a 1st wine in a flight of Northern Italian Reds. To all Best W... • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit... • Hi all!Hoping to wade into interesting wine talk (and food talk).  Me, I've been seriously enjoying and exploring wine for just over 20 years. On the red side, right now I'm partial to wines from Spain and the Rhone valley, but other loves are Oregon pinots, really good Italian wines (yes, it's endless, but that's the fun), and wanting to try mu... • Sorry, OT, my bad.  I lied.  I have the '11 Papera. ... Vineyard is located in the Edna Valley.  I visited them a few years ago and really enjoyed their Syrah.  That is what attracted me to this wine--and, again, it was less than $20.  This was not the worst PN that I have ever had, but it did show many of the characteristics that I do not admi... • Summerland Wolff Vineyard Pinot Noir Edna Valley 2012

Very "light" appearing red color--a lot of light passes through. Not a terribly big nose--some fruit hints, some spicy hints. Very light on the tongue--this is one step away from a rose in body. Quite fruity on the tip of the tongue--mostly cherries. Tartness makes this a good candidate for food pairing. US$19.99 at Costco in Chino Hills. Read More

  • Can you believe this?In the past year or so friend Snooth friend LingProf has ... Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard Edna Valley Syrah.  Into the basket it went.   See what influence you have over me, NG?Oh, and OT, close by I found Lagier Meredith 2011 Mount Veeder Syrah--one bottle left.  That went into the basket, too. Thanks, also, to LP for telling...
