Cabernet Sauvignon on Snooth

  • 2012 Grafter Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

A Lot 18 Seasonal Selection. Tasting Notes on site are pretty accurate:'Big, rich, dark aromas of baked cherry and currant fill the nose. There's also a hint of blackberry. It tastes just like it smells, but with an earthy, oaky secondary character, as well as a long, mineral-driven finish. Very juicy, ...'Opens with Oak/Cedar/Lavender and a ste... Read More

  • Buoncristiani O.P.C. Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine 2010

    Snoothrank:

Brooding dark color. Woody, earthy nose. Cabernet power is really toned down ... ... that I associate with Cabernet Sauvignon, there is much more blackberry fruit than Cabernet currant. Definitely, sweet sensation on the tip of the tongue. As the wine flows back, though, that sweet sensation diminishes and some tannin jumps in there with ... Read More

  • 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% other stuff (Malbec/Syrah/Merlot) blend."Other stuff" takes the CS power away from this wine.  I kinda get the currant that I see many times from CS on the tip of the tongue, but I'm also getting raspbery, and it's almost sweet.  Tannin is there as the wine moves back along with acid.  This is more an "easy drinkin... • I've just become interested in wine recently and still trying to figure out my palate. Any suggestions for something fairly inexpensive (under $10 or $15) and maybe a couple in the $25-$30 range? I've been told I have fairly mature taste for a newbie. I enjoy cabernet sauvignon and merlot, a thicker richer wine. Thanks for any suggestions.
