  authentic spanish flavors for $8. Went perfectly with grilled chorizo sausage. Some great floral Rhone flavors and smells as well. The grenache plays a prominent role here.

Read moreI'm not a wine snob, so Franzia in the box has been a staple for a while at my place. Once in a while I spring for something nice. I usually tell my friends I can't tell the difference between Franzia and wines that cost a little more. However, this year it is acidic and sharp tasting, difficult to drink. Unfortunately, I bought 2 boxes because I hadn't tasted any yet this year. Is there somewhere you can donate alcohol?    (hide)

  Seven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon Klipsun Vineyard 2006

While less herbal than the Seven Hills Cabernet this shares some of that wine’s black fruit tones with added layers of leather, fennel, and sweetly spiced oak tones. In the mouth this is supported as much by it’s fine acid spine as the crisp tannins. This is still a bit tight and short at this point but with promising dusty, black fruit and spice tones that handle to oak well. 91pts    (hide)

Read moreThis is spicy and complex on the nose with hints of toast, white pepper, and herbs adding complexity to the blackberry toned fruit. In the mouth there is excellent freshness but also a fairly prominent herbal component to accompany that freshness. The tannins are very fine giving the wine a fairly silky feel already and the black currant and blackberry leaf tones are classic Cabernet. This is really drinkable with a sneaky, candied blueberry finish. 89pts    (hide)

  Leese-Fitch Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

  filled with aromas of blackberries, black plums and dark currents. very fruit forward on the palate, classic components of a CA cab, a round tannic structure and finish, very drinkable and of a great value

  Is there someone who can write a description for this varietal similar to the one for Pinot Noir? I loved reading that one, and would love to read about many different grapes. Please point me in the write direction if I am looking in the wrong place. Gantt

Its a more restrained wine than I'm used to from Chile, there's a lot of fruit on the finish, but it's slow to start. Still very young and tight, with a green medicinal finish. Needs time" I'd not had a cab from this area of Chile, although I've had plenty from Chile in general. Way too young to form the best impression, there was a lot of tight tannins, but it's quite an over ripe wine too - the licorice and cough syrup came through. We'll see if anyone had a better experience.    (hide)
