History of the grape: References to it in the Loire region of France date as far back as the mid 12th century. • Early Mountain Vineyards Foothills 2012

    Snoothrank:

Rich red fruit aromas, lighter to medium body and soft tannins make this a great choice for a summertime red. Read More

  • Stinson Vineyards Meritage 2011

    Snoothrank:

I've had and loved the 2010 Meritage from Stinson, so this was a bit of a disappointment. Worth buying if you're in the market for something very basic, light and fruity. Read More

  • La Bastide Dauzac. Andre Lurton 2011

    Snoothrank:

A bit herbal on the nose with the oak slightly prominent at this stage. There's good acid here but this starts out on the palate a bit soft, roundish. Nice complexity in a fairly savory style, this offers modest scale with classic Bordeaux proportions and a fine core of black currant and black berry fruit supported by dry fruit tannins and finis... • Les Hauts du Tertre 2009

    Snoothrank:

Low aromatics are soil driven and slightly herbal, though showing attractive complexity already. Medium light modes with austere, red currant and raspberry fruit in the mouth, this is elegant if strict in the mouth. A classic little Bordeaux, with tannins that start out austere but softens in the mouth and show attractive ripeness. 89pts Read More

  • Simoneau Vineyards Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

    Snoothrank:

What a Cabernet! Absolutely delicious. I'm used to drinking Silver Oak Alexander Valley, and Jordan. This has more character and more elegance than anything I've had out of Alexander Valley so far. I'm a huge fan and look forward to seeing what he does in the future. I'm excited I found this winemaker. Read More
