Cabernet Franc on Snooth

  • Cave de Vignerons de Saumur Saumur 2005

    Snoothrank:

The nose on this is just spectacular - and likely attributed to the fact that it is 100% Cabernet Franc. I was really curious to see how a pure CF would taste, and I was moderately pleased - but would say that 100% merlot or shiraz would still be my preference. Red fruits abound, but dry. Mineral notes, and an astringent-like back end. Its n... Read More

    Snoothrank:

Big and sweet with a fair dollop of underlying sweet toasty oak adding depth to the warm, sweet and spicy cherry pie and spiced plum fruits with a touch of sweet licorice.and just a whisper of herbaciousness lilting out of the glass. Soft and chocolaty in the mouth with some wood tannin right up front. Spicy wood and black earth tones meld on ... Read More

  • Cameron Hughes Lot 99 2004

    Snoothrank:

Aroma is oaky with a lot of smooth vanilla and is pretty hot. Palate is quite silky smooth with deep black fruit flavors and powdered sugar. It tastes almost artificial but is easy drinking. Read More

Very interesting and enjoyable. Strong tanins immediately remind me of an approachable pinot noir but the flavor evolves into something more complex. Tastes a lot more expensive than it is. Read More
