History of the grape: References to it in the Loire region of France date as far back as the mid 12th century. Plantings spread into Bordeaux in the 18th century, where it met its life partner Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon came into existence. It is now mostly used as a blending grape there. • Someone, lets say it was one of the Hiltons because they are known to do odd ... little oak (see # 4), like a Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley. Do not drink Cabernet Sauvignon with your salad. It will not taste good. It has too much oak and tannins to sweet talk a salad. What do you drink with your salad Read More

Also, a couple from Napa came in to pick up their yearly shipment and they raved about the Cab Franc. So you could say I was influenced by their excitement probably more than the wine itself. Still, a solid purchase and a nice discussion piece d... Read More

  • Chateau Bourbon la Chapelle 2005

    Snoothrank:

Lovely nose of bing cherries and violets. Red fruit - red currant, cherries. What strikes me is that it is really smooth and has a nice balance of everything... the fruit, a little wood, a bit tannic, a bit of heat. The finish had a taste of bacon fat (finally found out how wine can taste like bacon fat!). More fruit than other Left Bank bor... Read More
