Cabernet Franc on Snooth

  • I’d never heard of Godello until a few years ago but this Spanish white ... that Mencia was related to Cabernet Franc, the classic red grape of the Loire Valley and Bordeaux but recent DNA tests show that the nearest link is Portugal’s Jaen variety. Don’t worry, I’d never heard of Jaen either! Bierzo’s reds of old were simple rustic affairs bu... Read More

  • Château Hyot Côtes de Castillon 2010

    Snoothrank:

This was my review about 3 yrs ago - "Very approachable for so early. Maybe it was due to having several other Bordeaux wines but I found this to be lighter than most, but really a lovely wine to drink. Plenty of dark berry fruits, oak, spice and mocha on the nose. The magenta color belies the complexity of this effort. Underlying cassis, anise,... Read More

  • Perseus Invictus 2013

    Snoothrank:

But upon decanting, the nose has cedar, tobacco and cherry notes; may need 3-4 years cellaring to reach full potentia... Read More
