Bourboulenc

Bourboulenc is a white wine grape variety found mostly in the French regions of Southern Rhône, Provence and Languedoc. It's prone to rot, ripens rather late, and generates tight clusters of jumbo grapes. Strong, smoky citrus, floral, and herbal notes dominate the palate, but the right level of ripeness must be achieved in order for this to happen. Bourboulenc is a high yield grape. It is high acid and low alcohol. Most of the time, Bourboulenc is used as a blending grape and is often paired with Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. You can find Bourboulenc from the following French regions: Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, Côtes du Ventoux AOC, Lirac AOC, Tavel AOC, Vacqueyras AOC, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône-Villages AOC, Bandol AOC, Cassis AOC, and Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AOC. It is a dominant grape variety in La Clape/Coteaux du Languedoc. Bourboulenc is an extremely old grape variety that is thought to have originated in Greece, where it is known as Asprokondoura Read more »
