Blanc du Bois

Blanc du Bois was developed at the University of Florida for use in that state. It is a white wine-producing grape with aromas and flavors not dissimilar to Muscat. Blanc du Bois has had medal-winning success for vaguely Riesling-like still and sparkling wines.

Along with Miss Blanc, Stover and Suwanee, you form a household of southern belles. You have proven that retirement in the South for health benefits does not mean sacrificing all manner of sophistication. Thanks to you, the deep South is on its way to redefining its simple and sweet reputation. – Description from Appellation America (view original content)

Blanc du Bois on Snooth

  • A ridiculous number of trigger pullworthies in this new offering, many in their absolute drinking prime. Wish the shop was just down the street from me, rather than the ones that are. But then I'd have to live in NYC.  ;-(I love it when a guy drops 100 cases on a shop, just to 'make some space" in his cellar. Wonder what's going to be filling th... Read More

  • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More

  • Torre di Pietra Blanc du Bois Texas Hill Country 2008

Crisp, light wine with great grown in Texas. A nose of baked apple pie and hints of honey on the palate intermixed in a mineral, creamy finish. Full bodied and fairly balanced. Read More

  • William Chris Blanc du Bois 2011

Of all the wines they offer this was my favorite. All the reds are Merlot or Merlot blends with one Syrah but nothing too impressive. Pale yellow color with low but youthful aroma. Off dry with a tart but crisp taste and moderate intensity. Fairly balanced. Medium finish. Read More

  • Recently discovered this delightful varietal. Amber Falls Winery in TN making some great wines with it, including a dry and off-dry finish. Both are excellent.

  • I hit the road again after receiving an invitation from Jerry Watson of Watson Vineyards in Cat Spring, Texas. Jerry said that some of his fellow Texas Gulf Coast grape growers pooled their chemical orders for pesticides, fungicides and the like, and were going to pick up the chemicals at Saddlehorn Winery in Burton, Texas. Well, to make a short...
