Assyrtiko on Snooth

  • Gavalas Nykteri 2009

    Snoothrank:

2009 Nikteri 14% - Fairly woody on the nose with dried fruit aromas, particularly dried pineapple and plenty of ginger from the oak. A touch of tannin up front gives way to a leading edge of wood induced sweetness which helps add depth to the fruit on entry but the backend turns too woody and those tannins pop back out. There is some wood spice... Read More

  • Gavalas Winery Santorini White Dry 2010

    Snoothrank:

2010 Santorini 13% 95% Assyrtiko, this has a sweet citrus element on the nose with an edge of burnt sugar and some smoky, dusty concrete tones on the nose. Lots of mineral charter in the mouth compliments subtle notes of mint, dried apricot, and even a touch of caramel with sweet peach nectar notes emerging on the short finish which is a touch ... • Gavalas Katsano 2010

    Snoothrank:

2010 Katsano 13% According to the Mr. Gavalas this is a balcony wine. Well ... ... • Domaine Sigalas Assyrtiko White Imported-Greek 2009

    Snoothrank:

Not a strong nose but a hint of tropical fruits. Smooth medium body and mouth feel with pineapple and mineral blended well with balanced acidity. An oak background; fleeting yet pleasant finish. Read More

  • 83 Sigalas Santorini Asyrtiko Greece 2010

    Snoothrank:

Nose reminiscent of a pina colada and strong tropical fruit aroma. Very smooth mouth feel that builds in acidity and wonderfully dry. Keeps the tropical fruit profile until the acidity eventually overtakes it - lasting finish. Opens with time. Read More
