Albariño

Common synonyms: Alvariñho, Albarin Blanco, Cainho Branco, Albariña, Azal Blanco, Galego, Galeguinho

Parentage of the grape: Two theories: 1. Riesling 2. Petit Manseng, possibly just indigenous to Galicia

  • Lagar de Cervera Albariño Rías Baixas 2005

    Snoothrank:

The 2005 vintage is characterized by a wine with a great body. In the light appears bright, with pale greenish-yellow. The aroma of good intensity and marked complexity reminiscent of very ripe stone fruit. In the mouth, the attack is mild, with a jacket and high persistence. In retronasal repeater aromas of ripe fruit. We are in a balanced and ... Read More

  • Pazo de Señorans Albariño 2007

    Snoothrank:

Fun, fruity, but exquisitely dry and exceptionally drinkable. If you serve this at a party rather than the standard Chardonnays & Sauvignon Blancs, I guarantee half your guests (at least!) will ask what it is and where they can get some. Read More

  • Worst part about living in Pennsylvania is all the racists. But a close second is the damned PLCB. I came here hoping I might find recommendations for wines I'll find at my local Wine and Spirits Shoppe (they call it a Shoppe to make it seem like it isn't a fascist monopoly) but it seems like I'm stuck with whatever their Chairmen want me to d...
