Hey Greg-   I just noticed the start time... 7:30EST (which is 4:30PST).  Although I am on R&R, I won't be back to my laptop until  5ish... do you have an idea how long this virtual tasting will be?  Can we just sign in anytime?

Thanks!

Virtual as in "streaming video", or a chat room or something?  Virtual's taken on a lot of meanings lately ;).

Either way, since I may not be able to "attend" since work has reared its ugly head, I have a simple question for the folks who represent the producers:

What's the difference between Prosecco and Moscato di Asti- despite the grapes alone?  Is there a signifigant difference in dossage, in time of harvest, or some other method of production other than just what these two sparklers are made from?

I should be able to at least be around for the end of it, though work has come up and I may not be around for the start of things.  Depending on how the weather goes- this whole town may turn into ice and slow everything, including the buses, down to a crawl.

I'm stoked about the wines irregardless, and will take time to review them whether I can "attend" tonight's virtual event or not.

Hey Greg- nice. I didn't catch all of it, but it was nicely informative too for those who don't know Prosecco.  Next time I'm hoping for the usual dancing girls . . .

Hey, I was dancing in my room, GregT!  LOL!

Just want to say this chianti has really opened up nicely... definitely decant for at least 2hrs, IMO.

SB... you forgot me!!!

Napagirl - let's talk about setting up a remote video feed.  I think the entire Snooth population would appreciate your efforts, and I assure you I'd be at the head of the awards committee when the nominations come out.

Interesting advice about the Chianti.  I like that Chianti.  It's a nicely-priced tasty wine.  Maybe I'll decant it next time.  For some reason, I've never done that - we just open and drink.

What did you think about the Pinot Grigio?

BTW - did you notice how Greg threw in the discussion of Tocai vs Tokaj?

That's OK, I'm already done with dinner. Added a nice touch with a sprinkle of truffle salt on the chicken after I sliced it, then topped with green leaf lettuce and sliced roma's. That bacon was goooooood. Oh man! Ya gotta drive faster SB!

Missed Tocai vs. Tokaj... would'v liked to hear that one...I, myself, have only tasted tokaji

BTW... after two hours open, I got a tad bit of coffee off  the nose of that chianti, and it really just bloomed.  Like it a lot.  When I begun the tasting, I was late and in a rush and forgot to open the chianti ahead of time.  First nose was all alcohol.   I HIGHLY recommend a 2hr decant.

Outthere... I am hungry... haven't eaten anything yet!!!  Just wine.  Good thing those Italian wines are low alcohol... LOL!  Sounds sooo  great!!

Okay, everybody, you were drinking wine and I was in a courtroom.  But I did get to try the PG.  Thought it was nice, but suspect it is the kind of PG that turned of GDD--just a little too easy, not a whole lot of vibrancy.  Haven't had a chance to crack open the Moscato d"Asti or the Chianti, but the Prosecco is a known quantity, reliable sparkler for when you just want to have a little bubbly.  So I will follow NG's advice when I open the Chianti and decant.  Sorry to have missed the live feed, everyone.

Foxall

I know the feeling the tasting was  about 11am my time and I was debating bulk wine values, onerous grape supply contracts and winery valuations with a client

Rather have been online with the tasting team.

SH: Well, at least it was something to do with wine, even if it was the business of it.  And, in my present circumstances, at 11 a.m., I would love to have the luxury of thinking about wine.  But it is funny to have an Internet "community" where you can talk over the back fence to somebody but it's 1/2 day different in time.
