- Your favorite wine?
Last night during our Blind Tasting Challenge and the BYOB dinner that followed we had a conversation going about whether or not people had a favorite wine, in the generic sense. I said I did, easy to guess right, wait for it... Barolo.
The discussion then revolved around whether the wine consuming public at large also has a favorite wine or do they really define their tastes by a style?
I was able to go one step further and specify a label as my favorite Barolo and therefore my absolute favorite wine.
So my question to you all is: What is your favorite wine?

I do not have just one default, all-time favorite wine, as of yet. I do have favorites in categories. I will begin with my favorite summer wine. King Estate Pinot Gris, chilled in the fridge, and brought out to warm up in the air for about 45 minutes before drinking. Not only refreshing, but complex enough to satisfy some good glass sniffing for a long time after the glass is empty.

I've always said my "stranded on a deserted island wine" would be Petite Sirah, possibly from Vincent Arroyo or Teldeschi (assuming I cannot have a mixed case wash ashore). Off to fashion a corkscrew out of a coconut....

I dont have a favourite as Im still discovering whats out there. Maybe in a couple of decades i'll have enough tasting experience to have a favourite.
At this point I'm having stormy relationships with Pinot Noir. She draws me in with a delicious one only to let me down again.

I prefer Red than White wines and I like fruity and full body one, Merlot and Syrah is my favourite. Normally, I go for Australia wines more often since the price is more reasonable than from France. For white wines I also like Riesling from Germany ie TBA. I also want to try more from France and Italy and still looking for good bargain one.
My dream wines is 1982 Lafite, any vintage DRC, 1959 Mouton Rothschild、1976 Penfolds Grange、1989 Haut Brion、1990 Comte Georges de Vogue Musigny.

Hi Greg,
What is your favourite winery for Barolo. And any good bargain Barolo recommended.

Favorite wines that I can afford: classified red Bordeaux and Burgundy, but the former only with ten years of bottle age. Among the Burgundies, the 93 Clos St. Denis (Jadot) was mighty fine, but I doubt I can afford the current vintage.
Least favorite: (I know you didn't ask.) Young tannic reds, especially inexpensive ones from Australia.

Nowadays in HK, wine lovers change to choose Burgundy in addition to Bordeaux for better price

For reds, I mainly enjoy Bordeaux style blends. I do enjoy Syrah very much also. I have never really had much experience with the Italian wines. I guess I am still looking to establish a favorite. My favorite white at the present time is the Crusher Vognier.

For me, the best small lot Napa Valley Cabs done right. Barolos too. Unfortunately neither one of these are under $50.
