I'm thinking it would be nice to get as many of you together as possible in one place for a dinner. Is that even feasible?
I would prefer NYC of course, it's local for me, but more to the point I can bring a ton of wine to dinner easily.
If this is support for the idea maybe we can begin to throw around some dates?
Would anybody travel for a wine dinner?

That's ridiculous. Do you mind a couch? On a good day, in the wee hours w no traffic, it's 25 minutes to LGA from my house and you have no bridges to cross because it's Bkn/Queens. About $40 for the car service.

That sounds great Greg, thanks a million. I'll call you tomorrow afternoon if I don't hear from you...just have some business to attend to on the upper east side in the late morning/early afternoon, then I'm pretty much free from there.

It might not work out NG. Wines might be corked or there might be a bug in the food! I gotta leave in a few minutes so have to go down and get something from the cellar.

I'd still like to come! I don't have a 1990, but can bring something interesting. Has the location changed to the Peking Duck in midtown on E 53rd?

Phew! Just spent 3 1/2 hours in line to get gas. Public transportation from NJ to NYC is a mess. Only a few trains and the Lincoln tunnel has become a nightmare of backups. Need three in a car to drive in. Anyone else trying to come in from NJ?

Coming from Bkn but it won't do you any good! Hope you can make it tho. Seems like there may still be a few of us. I thought it would only be three. I would have brought something extra. Only have Jon's 2 bottles and one of mine. But bring anything - no reason to stick to a theme at this point. Something fruity would be good with PdH.

Everything's gone off without a hitch for me today, great day in the city so far, looking forward to tonight - glad it's still on!
Just need to figure a way to get to Brooklyn from upper east side, but shouldn't be a problem.

BTW - it is 7:30 correct? I'm not sure how long the bus ride is. Once it's in the City it's express to Penn Station, no problem, but getting over the bridge is about 30 minutes. I think there's one to the east side too, which would be more convenient if I can find out where it leaves from.
Jon - coming back into Bkn shouldn't be a problem via either the express bus or taxi. It's only getting in that's the pain.
So it's Evaem, Jon, Manny, Greg DP and me?

did Manny find car mates?
Yes, 7:30
I've decanted 2 bottles of Barolo and have the 87 Dunn and a 2001 Kabinett ready to roll.

No takers as yet.
Hate to do this but I think I'll have to take a pass on this one. The usually simple logistics of getting into -and out of - the city have become overly complex. It's a shame not to have a lot of folks for this. What can be better than great wines and a Chinese feast?

sure thing
They are safe. In fact they are locked in powerless office since I really didn't expect Sandy to have such a lasting effect. More wine, that I can handle.

Now, make sure you write up the story of your experiences. Drnking wine under the cicrumstances, my thoughts are with you and I will raise a glass tonight in your honour.
