Cheers Kevin. Welcome to Snooth!
Do you have a favorite Zin? Or is that like picking a favorite child?

Never met a Zin I didn't like but Ridge Zins are great when I have money burning a hole in my pocket and Seghesio makes some great Zins' for a bit less. but under $10 a bottle Zins are good and there are many.

How do you find Primitivos? And are there any other reds/whites/roses you particularly enjoy?

I've only had one Primitivous. I had a .Castello Monaci Primitivo Piluna . It had nice fruit as I remember and was pretty earthy.
I like Californian Cab, Zins and I am a big fan of Italian wines. (All Red)

I'm definitely a Ridge fan -- had a great chance to visit them last time I was out west.

So what Italians? Barolos, Barbarescos, other nebbiolos? Chiantis, Super Tuscans, other sangioveses (and Bordeaux varietals)? Further south (negroamaro, etc.)?

Just saw that the Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2007 got '10th best' wine in the world for 2008, from among the nearly 20,000 wines that Wine Spectator reviewed:
