I'm an Australian looking to move to the US to start a winemaking apprenticship involving obviously a mixture of hands on work in a winery and studies through a univengrsity. Preferably looking for something on the west coast but happy to see what's available.
Does anyone have any advice/ information on the topic that could send me through the right avenues?
Cheers and happy drinking.
Winemaking apprenticeships in the US?

I do not know where you can find apprenticeship... but I do know where you can get a viticulture degree.. University of California, Davis has a great program. Napa colleges have those as well but not as vigorous as UCDavis..
Goodluck! Hopefully someone can help you more than me

I would start contacting wineries right away if you have a phone/ phone plan that can handle the international calls, otherwise get on Skype. Usually, the best way to get your foot in the door is helping out during harvest time, which wouldn't start until September, so you have plenty of time to start making arrangements.

Yeah i looked into UCDavis or Fresno for doing the course but as an international student it's just going to be way to expensive for me hence the idea of the apprenticeship.
I think the best thing to do is to contact the wineries directly and take it from there...
