A friend of mine and I have been working on a wine preserver for a few years, which we recently launched on Kickstarter. I'm new to this site, but I'd like to get some reactions:

Very nice idea. Basically the same as the Coravin. I'm going to wait to see how it works personally. The idea of Argon is nice, but every time you up-end the bottle, you're mixing up the gas anyway, and although Argon is a relatively heavy gas, it will eventually be distributed anyway through Brownian motion. But for something you're going to pour in a relatively short time, say a week or two or three, that might be an excellent idea. Also for restaurants, which is where I think the major market would be. I almost never open a bottle w/out finishing it, and if I do, I simply pour out 1/2 right away into a smaller bottle and refrigerate immedieatly. That's been working relatively well for many many years and it's only 3 - 4% of the bottles I'm going to open.
But you have a nice looking product for sure and if it proves itself over the long term, you should be quite successful. Best of luck.

Hey Greg thanks for the reply,
"I almost never open a bottle w/out finishing it, and if I do, I simply pour out 1/2 right away into a smaller bottle and refrigerate immedieatly."
I used to drink wine the exact same way, but now I'll keep a few bottles going at the same time and not have to worry about it. Plus, I may be in the mood for a cab while my wife always seems to go for the pinot, which avoids a potential debate right when I want to eat.

I just posted this on different thread. I had not seen this one yet.
Question. Have any of you seen this thing in use? A friend of mine told me about it the other day. He had a friend over and he used it on some wine. Seems impressive but pricey. Also seems to me like no matter what the bottle would be breached by the syringe and no matter how much argon you put in there its still going to leak. Anyhow. Any thoughts?
This is the website: http://www.coravin.com/
And no... this isnt a shameless ad.
