Wine Pairing with 08 Nov 2016 Election Night

Posted by Really Big Al, Nov 8, 2016.

The election is over but the fun continues!  How far can our country be dragged down by 'fake news' and 'alternative facts'?  You be the judge...

Wine is not nearly strong enough to get me through this.

Bourbon tonight, Fox?

My throat has been a little raspy the past few days, but it hasn't stopped me from drinking completely. My old fashioned's have been looking like this lately.

-Ice

-Booker's Bourbon

-Orange Bitters

-2 x Luxardo Maraschino Cherries

-Drop of simple syrup

Pretty sure I wouldn't want to try to comprehend and cope on psychedelics. Probably don't want to see more clearly, but rather filter towards denial.

Anybody who wants a workout in confirming the data behind the graphings of brain structure interconnections while taking shroomies (right) vs. while sober (left) can do so here.

And even 'Big Buddy' hydroponic couldn't hammer enough to prevent going straight to paranoia.

Need something more soporific, though the day is only starting over here. Even before seeing the posts above was thinking boilermakers. Cheap whiskey and cheap beer will do. Lots of it...

I'll be working at the polling station until all votes are counts and the local process in our town is certified. Already put in an an 8 hr shift and have to be back in about an hour for the rest of the night.

No wine for me tonight.

I voted almost 3 weeks ago.  It didn't work.  Robocalls still kept coming in. TV still filled with commercials.

Anyway, it's a day ending in "y."  Normally, that means Zinfandel.  Peggy pulled some fish out of the freezer.  So, we're going with this:

Life is very good.

UPDATE a few minutes later.

Peggy just told me that today a F/B friend of hers who is originally from Canada posted that today the Canadian border will be closed to the U.S. and will stay closed until 2024.

RC - You are a real trooper my friend.  Thanks for your service.

EM - I heard that too regarding the Canadian border, even over here on the east coast.  What could they be worried about?  Nice pairing with the fish.  Sandra grilled her salmon tonight while I grilled a nice rib-eye steak.

We enjoyed a wonderful Left-bank style Repris red wine tonight, along with Grappa to toast certain events.  Still watching the results coming in here at 9 PM ET.

RC-thank you for your service.

We are going with this really good and bold Petite Sarah that is drinking beautifully as FLORIDA is a key state again!

Holy crap!  The DOW futures are down 500 points now because the race is so close and there is a possibility that Trump might win.

Yes.  If not a high, then I will need more wine deliveries for the next four years.

Generic tea is not enough.  But hemlock tea?  Perhaps.

MJ - Did you finish that Petite Sirah?  What did you think of it?

Speaking of high...  It looks like most states are voting to "legalize it" And I think we're all going to need to smoke some weed if things keep going the way they are.  Drowning my sorrows with Barbera.

Ribera del Duero but after this bottle I'm opening something fortified. The prospect of Hillary's cackle and caw for the next four years leaves me terrified, but the idea of the Donald's disinterest in the state of the world is equally terrifying.

But we survived Fillmore, who had a similar hair situation, and we also survived Pierce, Polk, Harding, and various other non-entities and crooks, so I think we'll survive this.

Anyway, I'm halfway through the bottle so cheers all.
